Training for Residents at Western Challenge
Western Challenge has a substantial training budget which provides for a programme of training for involved residents.
Training topics are varied and wide ranging and we constantly look out for new training topics which are both relevant and interesting. The following just some of the training topics provided to date:
- Action Planning for Community Groups
- Introduction to Housing
- The Future of Tenant Participation
- Dealing with Anti Social Behaviour
- Motivating People
- Consulting with the Community
- Dealing with Difficult Situations
- Equal Opportunities
- Fundraising for Voluntary Groups
- Disability Awareness
- Public Speaking
- Producing Newsletters
- Committee Skills
- Working with Young People
- Cultural Awareness
Training may take place either at one off training events or at conferences arranged by a consortium of Housing Organisations. These events are held at hotels and public buildings and not in schools or colleges. Very often residents from other organisations are present so that opportunity is given to network with other people who have similar ideas and face similar issues.
